Ar an Oileán – Inis Oirr Drawings

O’Reilly spent a number of years on the island of Inis Oirr, one of the Aran Islands.  ‘I bought myself a second hand bicycle and with my drawing board on the carrier and a bag on my back I set out to circle the edge of the island creating a series of drawings whilst learning the hard way about the winds and the tides. Slowly I worked inwards towards the centre exploring the walls and fields. The fields handmade, looking snug, the soil held between the wall boundaries. Working from a relative height to view the labyrinth of fields’. The drawings were made using conte on A3 paper and were exhibited at Aras Eanna – the arts centre on the island.
